M Is FOR MASHUP - RERUN - October 3rd, 2012 (The Year of the Mashup Album)

13 Halloween Mashups ( + Gigantor vs Godzilla)

By DJ Useo

Halloween can be one of the most fun holidays. It's social, creative, & if you play your cards right you get free goodies! I have free goodies for you right now, so don't be tricking me none! These are first-rate goodies, too. It's my 5th annual 'Halloween ep' album! ' DJ Useo-Halloween ep 2012' ( ) follows the uncanny pattern of the previous four. It has 13 (14 if you count the unlisted bonus track) Halloween mashups of varying musical styles. You get your 'cheesy' mashup, like 'the purple people eater'-type. You get your spookier-type tracks like 'the theme from Friday the 13th'. All mashed into new arrangements.

Don't look for those two on this new collection, though, I found lots of other tracks to mix. I actually made way more than 13! Many of the others that aren't on here will appear shortly on other Halloween mashup collections, and a new podcast. (A teaser) Still, even after I contributed some to others upcoming spooky collections, I had a large batch left to pick these 13 from. After all, I'd been making Halloween mashups on & off since last Halloween. I even made some for a Halloween/Christmas mashup album ( ) that appeared. It sure would be nice if people remembered me for a Halloween mashup after I'm gone. I don't mean dead, I mean gone to another Halloween party.

I'll also be updating all my Halloween-related posts at my blog & linking them all in one new post. For years now, I've had people writing me around Halloween asking for new working links for the various tracks, podcasts, radio shows, & long mixes I've done to celebrate the season. This year I plan to take proactive action so the links will already be properly active. I've had a lot of chances to play my Halloween mashups, & everyone elses in the past. I did one hundred episodes of 'The Qradips Show w/ DJ Useo' & I bet there's 4 or 5 of them devoted to nawt but scary mashups. I can recall off the top of my head two podcasts, & three long mixes of Halloween stuff. I enjoy the genre & it's clear tons of you do as well. I know I'm not the only online DJ who does a Halloween project every year. Check the mashup forums like SoundUnsound ( ) , or Mashstix ( ) , you'll see I speak the truth.

This year I gathered together a small batch of Halloween mashups I posted as singles last year. (The old links are long gone. Dead, you might say. Lol) Then I had a large batch of tracks made new just for this project. & lastly, but most unexpectedly, I have a group of tracks that were rejected for other Halloween albums, mainly because they were 'cheesy' Halloween, not 'scary' Halloween. No worries, I thought, as they made this collection of mine stronger, albeit 'cheesier'. ;) I understand their decisions, actually. After all, how many times have we heard 'The Monster Mash' by Bobby "Boris" Pickett mashed? So they didn't want my mix of Mr. Pickett singing over the Beatles ' A Hard Days' Night'. One comp guy even told us all up front, "No monster mash, or thriller, or ghostbusters mashups!" Lol. I hope you try my version of the monster mash out, though, it sounds really amazing & melodic this way withe the Beatles rocking underneath. btw-I included a pdf with working links to the previous four Useo Halloween ep's. That's seventy halloween mashups altogether if my adding is up to snuff ( & counting the unlisted bonus tracks) . Here's a Preview link for track 13-Run For Your Life Dragula (The Beatles vs Rob Zombie)(Album Version)
( )

Well, this is only the beginning of the Halloween mashup season. There's major collections coming out every week all month! So gird your loins & stock up on sweeties to ward off the costumed soap-welding goblins! Make sure you leave me some feedback on this collection, or I'll be around waxing your windows & T-P'ing your porch!

Mix Of The Week

There's so many Halloween mixes already! Youtube is stocked to the gills with them. But here's a very nice 23 minute mix from Lazerbehm. It captures the spirit of the season right well & is great for personal or party playing. Playlist, stream, and download here
( )

Mashup Tip

Add lots of scary sound effects to your Halloween mashups. People expect that.

Latest Useo Thing

I've been slowly updating the links at my blog starting with the oldest singles. So for the first time in ages, you can get tracks like ' Simon Says Bagpipe' (Pharoah Monche vs Tate) ( )   'Magic Carpet House' (Chus & Penn Pres. Soulground vs London Residents vs Mighty Dub Cats) ( ) &   ' Nobodies' Mountain King' (Marilyn Manson vs Lawrence Welk & His Orchestra) ( ) There's tons of my early mashups available again, & I'll be updating links constantly until all of them are good to go once more. Bookmark my blog & have fun checking!

"Frasier" Wheels of Fortune (TV Episode 2002)

Michael Keaton guest-stars as Blaine Sternin, Lilith's half-brother. Frasier loathes him, as over the years Blaine has come up with numerous schemes to bilk Frasier out of his hard-earned money. Blaine arrives at Frasier's house in a wheelchair, claiming that his accident has made him a changed man, a man of God. Frasier doesn't believe it for a second, but the others are outraged at his accusations and the lengths that he will go to prove Blaine to be nothing but a con man.        Source

BBC News - Russian media learn to love the bomb

Nuclear war is the ultimate, unthinkable catastrophe. But in some sections of the Russian media it is being viewed as a realistic possibility and even something to be embraced

As the crisis in Ukraine has deepened over recent months and Moscow's relations with the West have become ever more strained, talk of nuclear war has been looming large in the Russian media.

In fact, as liberal journalist Yuriy Saprykin recently noted, it has almost become "commonplace".

Saprykin was struck by how presenters and listeners on independent radio station Ekho Moskvy now speak about nuclear war "more or less in the same way as if they were discussing increases in parking fines"...

Okay, remember this is from the BBC, not Faux News, so I consider it to be somewhat accurate... Read the rest if you want to be really scared, I double-Dog dare ya... Oh, and factor in all the practice Russian Air Force bomber runs being conducted all over the dagnab place at levels not seen the 'Cold War' was really hot and all I can say is...

Hello Bartcop fans,

As you all know the untimely passing of Terry was unexpected, even by him. We all knew he had cancer but we all thought he had some years left. So some of us who have worked closely with him over the years are scrambling around trying to figure out what to do. My job, among other things, is to establish communications with the Bartcop community and provide email lists and groups for those who might put something together. Those who want to play an active roll in something coming from this, or if you are one of Bart's pillars, should send an email to

Bart's final wish was to pay off the house mortgage for Mrs. Bart who is overwhelmed and so very grateful for the support she has received. Anyone wanting to make a donation can click on this the yellow donate button on

But - I need you all to help keep this going. This note isn't going to directly reach all of Bart's fans. So if you can repost it on blogs and discussion boards so people can sign up then when we figure out what's next we can let more people know. This list is just over 600 but like to get it up to at least 10,000 pretty quick. So here's the signup link for this email list.
