Trimmed Bush

Oedipus Rex

Everyone talks about Oedipus Rex, Oedipus Rex, Oedipus Rex. Do they know Oedipus fucked the queen, his mother, so he would become king? Does that mean Bush is or going to become a motherfucker in the truest sense of the word? In the non-literal, he's the biggest motherfucker, or should qualify that to say dumbest motherfucker of a president I can think of.

I don't see where it would make a helluva of a lot of difference if he fucked his own mother or not, due to all the innocent blood and horror the man has on his hands. Geez, what's a little pedophilia (or whatever the fuck it is when you fuck your own mommy) now that you've killed so many thousands of innocent babies and children and men and women..God help his soul.

Even the moderate Republicans are jumping the Bush ship when it comes to staying the course, whatever the hell that course was. What was the line from the freshman Repugnicunt who said only Marines stay, cowards run, as if she knew what a battlefield was like? Murtha even excused her by his utmost class and patriotism by saying sometimes freshman Repugnicunts use harsher rhetoric than they should.

There are so many issues of impeachable and prosecutable offenses right now we could keep prosecutors busy well into the next presidential term. Let's get on with that. Let's listen to a wise man like Murtha.

Jack Murtha HAS seen the battlefield, he goes to Walter Reid on a regular basis to see the men with no eyes, no legs, no arms. He knows more about the sheer horror of battle than most people ever will.

And he wants our boys (and girls) home, with all limbs intact. He sees the futility of a civil war resulting from this goddammed fiasco at the best. Are there going to be less or more terrorists if we stick around for another year? There will be more and more and more. They view us as taking on the responsibility of protecting them, meanwhile all of them are strapping themselves up for the trip to Allah. The failure of Bush's idiotic mind has come to fruition. Think of these men when you sit down for Thanksgiving. They'll be eating out of cans.

Erin Hart Show

Join Erin as she fills in for NY Vinnie on 710 KIRO tonight and Friday from 6 to 9pm (pst).

Living Voices performs "Journey from the Dust" to remind why we are grateful and what we have survived. Then take a trip via a "Native Vision" and explore Indian boarding schools and code talkers through the experience of the Navajo on Friday. (I am affiliated with the non-profit, Living Voices, enjoy!)

Then we talk about all the scandals fit to talk about--Bush isn't only faking a huge grimace at the news: Michael Scanlon indicted; the Iraqis formally request us out; fewer and fewer people trust this administration about anything! The truth is setting us free.

And Martha G. (or is it Marty) entertainment editor at BartCop.com visits on Sunday night with loads of links and hot blogs.

I always thought the single best reason to doubt Iraq had weapons of mass destruction was that the United Nations inspectors were over there looking and couldn't find any. This was while Donald Rumsfeld was claiming we knew where the WMD were being stored. So why didn't we tell the inspectors so they could go look there? It never made sense.

Among the changing reasons for the war, Bush, Cheney and Rice repeatedly warned us that Saddam had chemical and biological weapons and someday he would use them on another nation or provide them to terrorists. Rice loved to remind us Saddam had used chemicals on "his own people." Fallujah has been pretty much destroyed, its 300,000 residents displaced and in despair. The bodies of many of their loved ones are charred beyond recognition with chemical weapons. These people want us to leave their country.

Re: 'Egg Boy'

Marty

In the story in yesterday's Bartcop E about the CNN "X," I note the snippet of the story on your page refers to a Matt "Egg Boy" Drudge, but the Yahoo! link you give doesn't have it as "Egg Boy." Questions:

What is the origin of "Egg Boy" as a reference to Matt Drudge?

EJ2E

Thanks, Ed!
Here's a link that helps explain the reference - it originated from a Jeannette Walls gossip report on MSGOP.

Purple Gene Reviews

'Grass: A Nation's Battle for Life'

Purple Gene's review of the silent movie "Grass: A Nation's Battle for Life" (1925)
Directed, Produced and Filmed by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Shoedsack:

So I was getting geared up to see the new Peter Jackson "King Kong" movie when I noticed that TCM had the original 1933 version showing….directed by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Shoedsack…….Then they played a flick called "I Am King Kong" about the intrepid Mr. Cooper and his incredible "Indiana Jones" lifestyle and, in passing, they mentioned his very first effort, along with Shoedsack, which was an absolutely amazing Anthropological Documentary filmed in 1924 Called "Grass: A Nation's Battle for Life" and was described as the first look at a "Forgotten People"…and a "lost Tribe"! This all takes place in a heretofore wild and uncharted land hidden way back in the mountains…..somewhere in Asia Minor….somewhere unknown and never before seen.

Merian C. Cooper

So I settle back and watch as Cooper along with Shoedsack (strange name) and a journalist named Marguerite Harrison pack their camels and head out of Ankara, Turkey and into the barren uncharted Arabistan Desert. No cars, no radios, no electricity……just a camera, film and incredible curiosity.

They find a settlement near the Taurus Mountains in what is now Western Iran and meet some Arabian Desert Police who entertain them and feed them and tell them about the Bakhtiari tribe of nomadic goat herders that live a harsh existence in a far away place only legends describe…..stories going back to biblical times …….of a lost race of people living like they have for thousands of years!

Chief Haidar Khan & son, Lufta

So the adventurous crew camel their way into the barren infinity past Bagdad and Nedjid, way, way back into the land of the Bakhtiari tribe…..when they finally find them and they meet Chief Haidar Khan and his son Lufta, they are told that the animals are all starving because the grass is all gone….in fact, all 50,000 people and 500,000 animals are preparing for an unbelievably dangerous journey across the high desert, over raging rivers and then up through a steep ice covered mountain pass to get to "the land of milk and honey"…and "green grass"…….to survive…..This is not fiction…this is real !

The footage that was shot documenting the trek was truly mind boggling….. the ingenious rafts made from inflated goat skin floats which were loaded with people and animals to cross the raging Kuran River……rock climbing horses and women and children with all their belongings on their back……and then the dramatic scenes of the whole tribe zig zagging their way up the snow covered Zardeh Kuh mountain face barefoot behind the men who are have cut a path into the ice….just stunning and inspiring to see……..

Snow

Well they get over the mountain and down into a fertile valley full of gorgeous green grass….they have made it…they will live on…unfortunately Cooper and Shoedsack ran out of film at the end and only had a couple of brief shots of the hard earned paradise.

It's easy to see how this adventure helped Cooper and Shoedsack write and create the great classic "King Kong" about another lost uncharted island with deep dark secrets….

Cooper was a real life "Indiana Jones" and a fearless daredevil….While directing "King Kong" he actually flew the Bi-plane that shot down the "Beast" at the top of the Empire State Building.

Purple Gene gives "Grass: A Nation's Battle for Life" a special "Most Unique Anthro-Docu-Travelogue-Silent-black-and-white-movie-ever" Award!!!!!! If you get a chance to see it (TCM) drop everything and take a step back in Time!

P.S. It made me wonder what the fuck we're doing over there fighting these people....Oh ....I forgot....Oil!

Dis-Invited By Vatican

Daniela Mercury

The Vatican has withdrawn an invitation for Brazilian singing star Daniela Mercury to perform before the pope in a Christmas concert because she took part in an anti- AIDS campaign promoting the use of condoms, the singer said on Wednesday.

"She had her performance canceled by the Vatican for defending the use of condoms in the fight against AIDS," the singer's public relations office said in a statement.

Mercury said in the statement she regretted the decision but had the right to disagree with the Catholic Church's opposition to using contraceptives as a way of stopping the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.

Mercury is an ambassador for UNICEF and the UN anti-AIDS program.

Ending Five-Season Run

'Alias'

"Alias" is going undercover for good. The spy drama starring Jennifer Garner will end its five-season run in May, ABC announced Wednesday, promising a big finish.

Airing at 8 p.m. EST Thursday this season, "Alias" has struggled to hold its audience against the competition, especially CBS' "Survivor: Guatemala." Last week, the ABC show drew about 7 million viewers compared to about 19 million for "Survivor."

Hong Kong Erects First Monument

Bruce Lee

A statue of kung fu legend Bruce Lee has arrived in Hong Kong, ready for unveiling this week as part of celebrations marking the martial arts star's 65th birthday.

The bronze statue, 2.5 metres (eight feet four inches) high and weighing 600 kilograms (1,323 pounds), has been erected at the Avenue of Stars by the harbourfront in Kowloon, the equivalent of Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

The statue, which has the words "Star of the Century: Bruce Lee" carved on the base, was created by renowned Chinese sculptor Cao Chongen and transported from his workshop in south China's Guangzhou city.

Sues Tabloid Over Sex Story

Teri Hatcher

Teri Hatcher is suing a British tabloid newspaper for libel over its claims she had "sex romps" with men in a Volkswagen van, her lawyer said Wednesday.

London law firm Schillings said Hatcher, who stars on ABC's "Desperate Housewives," had instructed it to begin libel proceedings against the Daily Sport over articles that she says "falsely alleged that she engages in sex romps on a regular basis with a series of men in a VW van parked outside her L.A. home for this purpose."

The case is expected to go before the High Court in London next year.

Lusty Playwright

Alfred Nobel

A previously unknown play written by Alfred Nobel, the creator of the prestigious Nobel prizes, will premiere in Stockholm on the same day this year's awards are distributed, a theater said.

The play, "Nemesis", will be performed for the first time on December 10, the anniversary of Nobel's death and the same day as most of this year's Nobel laureates gather for a lavish banquet in Stockholm's city hall.

The play, printed shortly before Nobel's death in 1896, is about "violence, sex, torture, deceit, forbidden lusts, revenge and religious fanaticism," according to the theater.

It was considered so controversial by the great man's relatives that they burned most of the manuscripts, but a few editions were spared, the statement added.

Funeral Barge Up For Auction

Winston Churchill

The barge that bore the body of British World War Two leader Winston Churchill down the River Thames during his state funeral 40 years ago will go on sale next month and is expected to make over one million pounds.

Havengore, 87 feet long and 17 feet wide, entered the annals of history on January 30, 1965 when it carried Churchill's flag-draped coffin past dock cranes with their jibs lowered in mute tribute to the nation's hero.

Havengore, commissioned in 1954 and launched two years later, had a dual life as a working survey boat in the Thames estuary and a ceremonial transport craft carrying royalty and overseas visitors.

Head Shaker of the Week

Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise has made an unusual purchase for his fiancee Katie Holmes - one that will let them see the development of their baby. "I bought a sonogram machine," Cruise says on ABC's "Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2005," to air Nov. 29 (10 p.m. EST). Excerpts of the interview are published in the latest issue of People magazine, on newsstands Friday.

The 43-year-old actor said the couple will do their own sonograms, which show fetus development with ultrasound waves. Cruise said he will donate the machine to a hospital after the baby is born. Sonogram machines range in cost from $25,000 to $200,000.

Police Arrest 'Spiderman' in Houston

Alain Robert

The French building climber who calls himself "Spiderman" was thwarted in a bid to scale a Houston skyscraper and charged with trespassing and possessing drugs - two pills to relieve anxiety.

Robert Alain Philippe, 43, was arrested Tuesday as he was to begin climbing the 678-foot-tall One Houston Center building. Houston police spokesman John Cannon said two tablets, believed to be the sedative Xanax, were found on Philippe.

Philippe, who goes by the stage name Alain Robert, is known for climbing some of the world's tallest buildings with his bare hands and without a safety net. His conquests include the Eiffel Tower and the world's tallest building, Taiwan's 1,667-foot Taipei 101 tower.

Reincarnation of Buddha?

Ram Bahadur Banjan

A teenage boy has been meditating in a Nepalese jungle for six months, and thousands have flocked to see him, with some believing he is the reincarnation of Buddha, police and media said Wednesday.

Ram Bahadur Banjan, 15, sits cross-legged and motionless with eyes closed among the roots of a tree in the jungle of Bara, about 100 miles south of the capital, Katmandu.

He's supposedly been that way since May 17 - but his followers have been keeping him from public view at night.

In Memory

Sam Lockheed

Sam, the tiny dog whose hairless body and crooked teeth earned him a reputation as the World's Ugliest Dog, has died.

The pooch died Friday, just short of his 15th birthday, his owner Susie Lockheed said.

Sam won the ugliest dog contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fair this summer for the third year in a row. The pedigreed Chinese crested had made appearances on TV in Japan, radio in New Zealand and in Britain's Daily Mirror tabloid. He also had met Donald Trump on a talk show set.
