Saturday & Sunday Night

Erin Hart

710 KIRO - 9pm to 1am (pdt) Weekend Nights

Marines are dying in record numbers in Iraq, Robert Novak has had a meltdown on CNN, and GW is still on vacation--what a week to talk.

Strategy or strategery--the war is going worse and Bush is tanking in polls regarding his honesty and handling of the war--the country doesn't seem to trust him anymore. So how do we handle the increasing violence?

And if you caught it, you blinked--a newby host on CNN was going to ask Novak about the Plame case and right before he let James Carville's mild needling provoke him to say a big swear on air. AND left the set. Wow.

The 40th anniversary of the Voter Rights Act, the 60th of Hiroshima, time to ponder justice and power.

And it's Seafair in Seattle, what fun and what noise--join the fun on the Erin Hart show as we review the local stories of the week--detectives gone wild and monorails jumping the tracks--record high gas prices and all.

Join in on 710 KIRO (we stream worldwide) AND erinhartshow.com.

Purple Gene Reviews

'Detour to Terror'

Purple Gene's review of the movie "Detour to Terror" (1980)
Directed by Michael O'Herlihy:

O.J. and Nicole are back together again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Encore Action West, Comcast channel 530, had an intriguing title last night "Detour to Terror"…sounds like a monster movie…doesn't it???? Well it's a pre-monster movie. Actually it's a return to the days of dumb and dated innocence and post disco tight white bell-bottoms and O.J. Simpson starring as a bus driver….actually a Deluxe Guided Tour Bus Driver…and the only time his new girlfriend Nicole Brown ever shared the same billing (except for later made for TV movies about the tragedy of her 1994 murder)…..but this is the naïve 1980's and O.J. had landed a production deal with Playboy and Columbia and his own "Orenthal" group and needed some "cute" extra….enter Nicole Brown as "Passenger on a bus"……..

Lee Hayes (O.J. Simpson - ex buffalo Bill/49er NFL running back and murderer - "Roots" - "Goldie and the Boxer" - "Cocaine and Blue Eyes" - "Naked Gun") is the regular driver for Golden West Deluxe Bus Tours driving gambling junkets from Flagstaff, Arizona to Las Vegas. Harry Edwards (Arte Johnson - "Laugh-In" - "Baggy Pants and The Nitwits" - "To Catch a Halibut") is the tap dancing tour guide who loads everyone on the bus and leads them in singing "Row Row Row your Boat" while blazing through the desert. One of the more colorful passengers on scheduled run #7204 was Sheila (Anne Francis - "So Young So Bad" - "Blackboard Jungle" - "Forbidden Planet") who is wearing a riotous blonde wig because she just finished Chemo. Then there's Martin Brain who is hopping on with his secret girlfriend Joyce (the reservation ticket says it's Martin's rich wife) . There is an assortment of young and old regulars and then the last person to load was a cute blonde in a gold banded hat and a beige dress and low cut top….Passenger on a Bus (Nicole Brown - pre boob job - pre mrs. OJ) and she has no speaking part!

Of course some some psycho dune buggy drivin' punks led by a chipmunk cheek twit named Jamie (Lorenzo Lamas - "Snake Eater" - "Renegade" - "Raptor Island") find out about the rich wife of Martin Brain being on the bus (although she isn't) decides to hi-jack them in the middle of the desert and kidnap Mrs. Brain and get a bunch of money!!!!!So they take over the bus and steer it into the middle of nowhere and shoot out the tires and cut the ignition and all the bus driver Lee has to say is Shucks!!!!! They grab Mrs. Brain and take her to the hide out in their dirty dune buggys.

They are a bunch of dumb asses and they realize that Mrs. Brain isn't Mrs Brain…..only Mr. Brain's Vegas Tart… so……they kick the tart out into the desert and decide to go back to the bus and get a stamp worth $90,000.

Meanwhile Lee and Harry have been keeping the passengers happy by making a campfire and singing more songs….but they manage to get the bus started and just as they are flying through the desert back to the highway…here comes the evil dune buggys with the bad guys…..Lee manages to push psycho Jamie over the cliff in a fiery blaze…..and then the moment I had been waiting for through the whole movie……They show another tour loading and Lee is greeting the new passengers and the last one to board is Nicole (passenger on Bus) and she actually stops and Grabs Lee's (O.J.'s) arm and looks at him and whispers something in his ear…….we'll never know…..

I went on the internets and googled crime scene shots of Nicole's murder after watching this insipid piece of shit and I shook and shuddered a little bit to think of how tragically this story really ended!!!!!!!!!!

Purple Gene gives "Detour to Terror" 2 wrinkled old 80's tour bus tickets out of 10 for being the beginning of a bus ride to real horror.

No. 2 U.S. Documentary

'March of the Penguins'

Warner Independent Pictures on Friday more than doubled the number of theaters playing its nature movie "March of the Penguins," boosting the film's chance at becoming the No. 2 documentary of all time at U.S. box offices.

The move puts the Antarctic adventure "Penguins" in 1,867 theaters in the United States and Canada this weekend, up from 778 one week ago, according to boxofficemojo.com, which monitors box-office earnings.

The film, which follows a pack of Emperor Penguins during an arduous mating season, had grossed $18.4 million through Wednesday and was poised to surpass the $21.6 million for Michael Moore's anti-gun documentary "Bowling For Columbine."

Aids Alabama Boy

Cher

A donation from Cher helped a 16-year-old Northport boy suffering from muscular dystrophy get vital home health care at his trailer - at least for a few months.

Joseph Sullivan, who can move his head and fingers but little else, was all but bedridden this summer because his 69-year-old adoptive mother is disabled from two strokes and home health care was cut off when he lost Medicaid coverage. The Medicaid money ended when the boy's survivor benefits from his father's death increased his income $13 over the agency's $599 monthly limit.

Without Medicaid, the Sullivans couldn't afford the $190 weekly cost of home health care to keep Joseph bathed and dressed so he could leave the house and eventually return to school.

Sprays Israeli Wall

Banksy

Secretive "guerrilla" artist Banksy has decorated Israel's controversial West Bank barrier with satirical images of life on the other side.

The nine paintings were created on the Palestinian side of the barrier.

Banksy's spokeswoman Jo Brooks said: "The Israeli security forces did shoot in the air threateningly and there were quite a few guns pointed at him."

Banksy, who hails from the UK city of Bristol, never allows himself to be photographed and created the images last week.

Academy Reconsidering Pretaped Speech Plan

Emmy Awards

It might be time for a rewrite of a plan to streamline next month's Primetime Emmy Awards telecast by shifting to pretaped acceptance speeches for winners in writing and directing categories.

Industry sources say brass at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences are rethinking that plan after considerable grousing about it from prominent writers and directors.

When the compromise plan was announced in April, academy brass presented the plan as a done deal, undertaken in the effort to stem the ratings plunge for the Emmys and liven up the telecast. But on Thursday the academy took a step back and maintained in a statement that it had been "very clear in stating that once the (Emmy telecast) executive producer was selected the matter would be reviewed again." Now that Ken Ehrlich is getting down to brass tacks on plotting out the show, "we are reviewing the production logistics to see if we are accomplishing our stated goals." Ehrlich declined comment on the matter.

Won't Close Bookstore After All

Larry McMurtry

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Larry McMurtry won't be closing his eclectic book shop after all.

The author of "Lonesome Dove" and "Terms of Endearment" announced in February that he would shutter Booked Up Inc., because the store had been losing customers.

But McMurtry said this week that the shop's outlook has improved due to staff cuts and an upturn in business. The North Texas shop contains about 400,000 books, including hard-to-find, out-of-print and used editions.

Complete Woodstock Set To DVD

Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix's closing performance at Woodstock on Aug. 18, 1969, is arguably one of the most iconic moments in rock history, but it has never been commercially available in its entirety.

That will change on Sept. 13, when Universal Music and Experience Hendrix release the DVD "Jimi Hendrix -- Live at Woodstock." The project comes out a day earlier in the U.K.

The double-disc set captures one of Hendrix's only performances with an extended backing band, dubbed Gypsy Sun And Rainbows. Longtime Hendrix engineer Eddie Kramer supervised a new audio mix in both 5.1 and 2.0 stereo sound. Bonus features include "The Road to Woodstock" documentary, a contemporaneous press conference and "A Second Look," which blends black-and-white video footage with color clips from alternate angles.

Students Vie for Spot

'Knight School'

Bob Knight will give one Texas Tech student the chance to play on his team in a reality show hosted by the Hall of Fame coach.

Sixteen students will attend "Knight School," the name of the show set to air on ESPN in February, and Knight will whittle the class to one during six one-hour episodes. Filming will begin in late September.

That player will have endured what all Knight players do - long hours of drills, conditioning and instruction - and will have chance to be a walk-on for the 2006-07 season.

Bob Dylan's song "Like a Rolling Stone" topped a poll on Friday to find the 100 songs, movies, TV shows and books that "changed the world" in the opinion of musicians, actors and industry experts.

Dylan's 1965 single beat Elvis Presley's "Heartbreak Hotel" into second place in the survey for "Uncut" magazine.

The Beatles' song "She Loves You" ranked at number three, followed by the Rolling Stones' "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction."

Stanley Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange" emerged as the most influential film at number five, followed by "The Godfather" and "The Godfather II" films in sixth place.

New Street Skateboarding King

Paul Rodriguez Jr

Paul Rodriguez Jr. is a high school dropout, the product of a broken Hollywood home and the new king of street skateboarding.

The soft-spoken 20-year-old with bushy black hair and love for slain hip-hop star Notorious B.I.G. moved smoothly from trick to trick Thursday outside the Staples Center to win his second straight X Games street title.

He's become the most-recognized star of a highly technical and largely low-key sport that doesn't easily lead to stardom. But it seems fame runs in the family.

That would be comedian and actor Paul Rodriguez, who watched his son in a skateboard contest for the first time at last year's X Games. After winning, the son said, "Maybe he's my good luck charm."

Didn't Copy 'Da Vinci Code'

Dan Brown

Best-selling author Dan Brown has won a court ruling against another writer who claimed Brown's book "The Da Vinci Code" copied elements from two of his books, Brown's publisher, Random House, said on Friday.

Brown avoided $150 million in damages author Lewis Perdue had sought in a legal ruling that also characterized his blockbuster book as an "intellectual" work.

Perdue had claimed "The Da Vinci Code," which has 36 million copies in print worldwide, infringed the copyright of his novels "Daughter of God" and "The Da Vinci Legacy."

Secret Tape

Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe fretted over a relationship with then-Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and had a one-night stand with actress Joan Crawford that left her cold.

Monroe also thought sex with former spouse and playwright Arthur Miller was just "so-so" and maintained a deep affection for ex-husband Joe DiMaggio. But she credited her psychiatrist with teaching her how to achieve orgasm.

The Los Angeles Times revealed a few glimpses into Monroe's mind on Friday in excerpts of tape recordings the sex symbol and actress is said to have secretly made for her psychiatrist in the days before she died at the age of 36 in 1962.

The Times said it obtained a written record of the tapes from the only person still alive who claims to have heard them -- former prosecutor John Miner, 86, who says the recordings support his belief Monroe was a victim of foul play.

Welcome !

You have reached the Home page of BartCop Entertainment.
Make yourself home, take your shoes off...
Go ahead, scratch it if it itches.

The idea is to have fun.

Do you have something to say?
Anything that increased your blood pressure, or, even better, amused or entertained?

Do you have a great album no one's heard?
How about a favorite TV show, movie, book, play, cartoon, or legal amusement?
A popular artist that just plain pisses you off?
A box set the whole world should own?
Vile, filthy rumors about Republican musicians?
Just plain vile, filthy rumors?
This is your place.

(In other words, submissions are welcome.)
