In The Chaos Household

Last Night

Played in the garden some more. Put a new hibiscus in the front yard. White flies killed the last one.

The kid won, and Faux was on most of the night. The 'X-Files' was downright painful. Talk about killing an hour & filling a schedule.

Ended up at the NBC 75th Anniversary show. They sure had audio problems for having been in the business for so long. How long did it run on the East Coast? Ran over by 17 minutes here.
Hey, Maddog - couldn't find any pictures with the 'Hill Street Blues' gang. Rats.
Sure miss Johnny Carson.

Tonight, Monday, it's all fresh on CBS, with 'King Of Queens', 'Yes, Dear', 'Raymond', 'Becker' and then a special, 'The Honeymooners 50th Anniversary Celebration'.
Scheduled on a fresh Dave are Mary Tyler Moore, Norah Jones & Tammy Leitner (the 'Survivor' castaway o' the week).
Scheduled on a fresh Craiggers are Lauren Graham & Danny Masterson.

NBC also has an all fresh night with 'Fear Factor', 'Third Watch' and 'Crossing Jordan'.
Scheduled on a fresh Jay are Tobey Maguire and P. Diddy.
Conan has a traditional Monday night rerun with Pamela Anderson, Jason Schwartzman & Jewel.
Scheduled on a fresh Carson Daly are Ashanti & Andy Richter.

ABC dumps the evening in favor of the movie 'Notting Hill'.
Scheduled on a fresh Bill Maher are Comedian Robert Klein; Actor Michael Chiklis; Actress Paget Brewster; Radio Talk Show Host Blanquita Cullum.

The WB is also fresh with '7th Heaven' and 'Angel'.

Faux is also fresh with 'Boston Public' and 'Ally McBeal'.

UPN is also fresh with 'The Hughleys', 'One On One', 'The Parkers' and 'Girlfriends'.

Astro Forecast for period 5/5 - 6/21/02

Celestial Sass!

By gare galbraith

CANCER 6/21 - 7/22 As Mercury goes Retrograde, your legendary "I feel it in my gut" intuition serves you well 5/15 & 5/16. Listen strongly to it, because there will be much miscommunication and lifestatic around you. Learn a little detachment and realize that just because those around you are acting looney-luny, doesn't mean you have to also. Dance to your own emotional thruline in this time. If you need to initiate anything do it between 6:33am and 1:51pm on 5/15. After that, lay low and listen with all 4 ears. Prepare to go effectively forth from 1:15pm 5/11 - 4:44pm 5/13. Unless you want to wait for your Astro New year on 7/10.... Just want to give you good prep time and get you FEELing good about it. The Full Moon period of 5:29am 6/9 (teehee) thru 1:15pm 6/11 will be fraught with struggle between your chosed escape modes and the fine details of doing your job responsibly.

1st Decan Birthdays 6/21 - 7/1 The expansion and somewhat automatic luck you've experienced over the last month will abate somewhat. But your gorgeosity will be very appreciated from 5/20 - 5/29 at which point your energy picks up and gives you verve thruout the prediction cycle. The one drawback in this time might be your mistaking offhanded mutterings of strangers as poison darts at your soul/reputation/home. Take a step back and assess that 9 times out of 10, you don't have to let people effect your highly intense emotions. Leave that for the moon.

7/2 - 7/11 Wow! Other than having to be wary of the aforementioned Mercury issues, this is a wonderful time for you to expand your influence. And you just gotta be yourself! Just show that nurturing, protective, brilliant intuition of yours and your circle will expand. The main danger in this time is that your hips might also. Be true to your feelings after 6/8, and you will have quite the protective mode about you.

7/12 - 7/22 Now is a most capricious time for you to review your strengths and/or work and to prepare them for fullthrottle presentation from 6/18 to the middle of next month. You'll find fewer degrees of separation between you and those who can take you to another level of security. Don't be afraid of presenting your case and don't be put off if the presentee's emotions don't match yours. Few of us rarely ever do match your FEELings.

LEO 7/23 - 8/22 The confusion of Mercury's moonwalk is alleviated somewhat for you from 12:52pm 5/17 - 3:34pm 5/19. This is when your roar will be appreciated... just make sure it's understood. Working even better for you is 6:39pm 6/13 - 8:17pm 6/15. This is a time to seek out those with whom you want to get your way. 5/30 - 6:37pm 6/1 is reserved for you to be quiet and cooperative. And if you can't be, at least act like you are. Otherwise, there will be lamentable trouble.

1st LEO 7/23 - 8/1 The delusions you've held about partnerships and legalities since the beginning of the year will take a weird turn after 5/13. Just because you're the star of your own show does not mean that others are accepting 3rd billing, much less staying for the 3rd act. Watch out for deception or addiction from partnertypes from now til the end of the year.

2nd LEO 8/2 - 8/11 You've felt some of the rumblings mentioned in 1st Leo, but luckily you'll have many months to prep yourself for such situations. Meanwhile, you enjoy aggressive action regarding job, career and social standing.

3rd LEO 8/12 - 8/22 "Why have they suddenly started acting like that?", has been your theme regarding lovers and business partners since the 1st of 2002. Well, this will continue. People change, and sometimes they have no control over what, how or why this happens. It's really not always about you. You'll have some original ideas about this if you'll just WILL yourself to consider all possibilities. After 5/11, this will prove valuable as you will be ridding yourself of some lifesores and realizing some inner strength can be wrought by sharing with them others.

So Glad Dignitude Has Returned To The White House

Funny Guy

resident Bush treated journalists to never-before-seen pictures of the White House on Saturday, including one in which Vice President Dick Cheney appears to be urinating on the door of his Oval Office.

"Dick, I hope you're not doing what it looks like you're doing," Bush quipped as he narrated a slide show at the 88th annual dinner of the White House Correspondents Association.

The Cheney photograph followed a series in which other top officials, including national security adviser Condoleezza Rice and outgoing White House aide Karen Hughes, were shown peering into a peephole at the president's office.

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton was also the object of Bush's 'humor' when he showed a photograph of himself with a woman dressed in full-length blue burka and said it was the former first lady.

"For political reasons, some Democrats prefer that it not be known they are working with a Republican president, so they slip in the back door -- like Hillary Clinton here," he said.

The evening's paid 'entertainer', comedian Drew Carey, also took aim at the president's verbal antics.

"Every time he gets to a big word, it's like watching a high-wire act," Carey said.

Each year, the event draws hundreds of journalists and Washington officials, as well as dozens of celebrities. This year's stellar cast included actress Glenn Close and actor Harrison Ford, model Christie Brinkley, as well as the sex adviser Dr. Ruth Westheimer.

Funny Guy

Look at that...they're admitting they paid Drew Carey (who really liked laughing at his own jokes. Guess that's what happens when you begin to believe a 'laugh-track' is for real).

Postponing New Ad Campaign - Again

Coca-Cola Co

The Coca-Cola Co. has postponed a new ad campaign for its flagship brand until fall, sources said. A new campaign to replace "Life tastes good," which was pulled on Sept. 11, had been scheduled to bow in late spring, a source said. The delay comes as the Atlanta company's lead creative agency, McCann-Erickson, seeks a top creative director on the account in New York and as various taglines, such as "Thirsty for refreshment," and "Coke is refreshment," are being "floated," sources said. Another line, "It's good to be thirsty," is on outdoor advertising in Atlanta. Coke executives declined comment.

Facing A Fine

The BBC

The British government said on Sunday it may fine the British Broadcasting Corporation if it dumbs down its television programming.

Commercial broadcasters complain they are more heavily monitored than the publicly funded BBC, which has been criticized in recent years for chasing ratings rather than focusing on high-quality, public service television, which is a key part of its remit.

Late last year the government said it was planning to maintain a ban on non-European ownership of Britain's free-to-air television companies, blocking media giants such as Rupert Murdoch's News Corp and AOL Time Warner from buying terrestrial TV stations.

Current UK media legislation limits a non-EU company from owning more than 20 percent of a UK terrestrial broadcaster.

Eyeing Minor League Team

Bill Murray

Comedian Bill Murray is taking such an active interest in Brockton's new minor league baseball team he may eventually become part owner.

The star of "Caddyshack" and "Stripes" is a baseball fanatic and unofficial "director of fun" for the Brockton Rox, who start play this month in the independent Northern League in a new $17 million stadium.

Murray, 51, who lives in New York, showed up unannounced at the team's offices last month and toured the stadium. He's known Schley since the late-1970s and has owned minor league baseball teams with him in the past.

Standing Up For Principles?

Robert Blake

Robert Blake once passed on playing America's most famous mob boss. Now he's living out an true-to-life tale of murder and hit men.

Blake, best known for his work as "Baretta," turned down at least one shot at playing convicted mobster John Gotti because the actor didn't believe the scripts were factual or credible. Blake, 68, once made a point of calling Gotti lawyer Bruce Cutler to tell him about passing on playing the Dapper Don.

"He wasn't asking for permission, and he didn't call to score points with the family," said author and Post columnist Victoria Gotti, John Gotti's daughter. "It was just him standing up for his principles."

Meanwhile, Blake's defense team hurled a scorching new allegation at the actor's slain wife yesterday - labeling her a child abuser who recklessly medicated their daughter, Rosie.

Defense lawyer Harland Braun said Bakley regularly fed the baby girl Kaopectate, an adult over-the-counter diarrhea medicine.

"She was putting Kaopectate into the baby's formula because she didn't like changing diapers," Braun said.

Assaulted At Home

John Barrymore III

Former actor John Barrymore III was beaten in his home by teen-agers trying to steal his marijuana plants, police said.

Six teens arrived at the house in a van Wednesday, said police spokesman Jim Bennett. When Barrymore and his wife opened the door, they were beaten with a metal trailer hitch slung in a sock.

The San Jose Mercury News reported Sunday that Barrymore, 47, underwent brain surgery Friday and was expected to recover.

"We are lucky to be alive," Rebecca Barrymore, who is recovering at home, told the newspaper.

Barrymore, 47, is the grandson of the Shakespearean actor and silent film star with the same name. Now dabbling in high-tech work, he has had several minor movie roles and is stepbrother to actress Drew Barrymore.

A witness told police the youths had heard Barrymore's son bragging about his father's cache of 100 marijuana plants, the newspaper reported.

In Memory

George Sidney

George Sidney, who directed dozens of musicals when the genre was at its peak and presided over Hollywood's directors guild for 16 years, died Sunday. He was 85.

Sidney died at home of complications of lymphoma, said his wife, Corinne Sidney.

A one-time child actor whose career took him from the vaudeville stage to decades of success in the studio system, Sidney directed a string of hits for MGM in the 1940s and 1950s, including "Ziegfeld Follies" (1946), "Annie Get Your Gun" (1950), "Show Boat" (1951) and "Kiss Me Kate" (1953).

He worked with such show business greats as Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly, Tony Curtis, Lana Turner, Dick Van Dyke and Ann-Margret, and once defined a star as "someone who attracts your attention even when he or she isn't doing anything."

Sidney was president of the Screen Directors Guild in 1960, when it merged with the Radio and Television Directors Guild to form the Directors Guild of America. He spent 16 years at the head of the organization and was the first recipient of its presidents award, in 1998.

In a 1998 interview with AP, Sidney discussed the decline of the genre he loved.

"Musicals became too expensive," he said. "When we were working at MGM, there was a whole company of talent: stars, directors, choreographers, song writers, conductors, arrangers. All worked under contract at regular salaries. To gather people like that today would be enormously costly."

A private memorial was being planned.
