By the time you read this, the Tucson city elections will be over, and we'll all know whether Steve Kozachik pulled the upset over Nina Trasoff, if Ben Buehler-Garcia came close enough to put a scare into Karin Uhlich, and if Shaun McClusky pulled even 30 percent against Steve Leal's anointed successor, Richard Fimbres. Then there's also that pesky Proposition 200, which would make the city of Tucson safer or bankrupt, or both.

Wall Outrage In Berlin
U2
Fans hoping to glimpse U2's free concert celebrating 20 years since the Berlin Wall fell were outraged Thursday to find that a 12-foot (3.6-meter) metal barrier was installed to block the view for those without tickets.
Both Berliners and tourists alike saw the irony in building a wall around a concert dedicated to the wall that has already come down.
The music network MTV, which organized Thursday's concert, said it worked with the local promoter, the city and Berlin police to install a temporary fence "around the site to ensure the safety and security of the attendees at the event as well as residents and businesses in the area."

US Officials Meet
Aung San Suu Kyi
U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Kurt Campbell met with Myanmar Burma's detained opposition leader democratically elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi on Wednesday, becoming the highest-ranking American official to visit the Nobel Peace Prize laureate in 14 years.
Campbell, the top U.S. diplomat for East Asia, greeted Suu Kyi with a handshake after she was driven to his lakeside hotel in Yangon where they met privately for two hours, said U.S. Embassy spokesman Richard Mei.
Campbell and his deputy, Scot Marciel, are the highest-level Americans to visit Myanmar since 1995. Their two-day trip, which included talks with senior junta officials, stems from a new U.S. policy that reverses the Bush administration's isolation of Myanmar in favor of dialogue with a country that has been ruled by the military since 1962.
The U.S. visit is the second step in "the beginning of a dialogue with Burma," State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters in Washington on Tuesday after the officials had met with senior junta officials in Myanmar's administrative capital of Naypyitaw.

Improves German Ratings
"30 Rock"
Things are looking up for "30 Rock" in Germany, days after the series premiere of the Emmy-wining sitcom garnered a zero rating.
An average of 30,000 viewers tuned in to channel ZDFneo Wednesday night to watch the show -- enough for a 0.1% market share, according to German ratings agency Media Control.
While that might not sound like much, it's a major improvement over "30 Rock's" free-TV debut on Sunday, when its zero rating translated to fewer than 5,000 viewers. Germany's population is about 82 million.

Japanese Erotic Inspiration
Pablo Picasso
The Japanese prints that inspired some of the erotic works of Pablo Picasso are the subject of a new exhibition that opened at Barcelona's Picasso Museum Thursday.
"Secret Images", which is on until February 14, aims to show the influence of the 19 erotic prints on the works of the Spanish artist.
The prints, from the 17th to the 19th century and which were part of Picasso's private collection, are on show alongside the 27 engravings and drawings of Picasso that they inspired.
Among the erotic Japanese prints is a work by Hokusai Katsushika, which depicts a woman and an octopus, a version of which was done by Picasso in 1903.

EMI Sues Website Over Online Music
Beatles
Beatles record label EMI is suing U.S. music website BlueBeat.com, which it said was offering unauthorized downloads of the Fab Four's tracks for sale.
BlueBeat.com offers songs for 25 U.S. cents each, around one quarter of what a song would typically cost on the dominant online music retail site iTunes, owned by Apple Inc.
On offer is an extensive list of Beatles albums, both original and recently remastered versions, despite the fact that the band has yet to agree with music providers to the release of its cherished catalog online.
Music industry sources said they suspected EMI's action against BlueBeat could be followed by other major labels whose content features on the site.

Removes Singer
Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey is removing gospel singer BeBe Winans from her show's "karaoke challenge" until charges against him for allegedly pushing his ex-wife to the ground are resolved.
Winans appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" last week and was seen in promos for future appearances. Now he'll be cut out of the segment, said Winfrey spokesman Don Halcombe on Thursday.
Winfrey was criticized by some bloggers this week for including Winans after she had taken a strong stand against domestic violence earlier this year. She did a show on the topic when singer Chris Brown assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna.
Halcombe would only say that the decision to eliminate Winans was made this week. It was not clear if Winfrey had been aware that Winans was charged with misdemeanor domestic assault in the Feb. 13 incident, where Winans and his ex-wife Debra were allegedly arguing about their children. Winans has a court date set for Jan. 20.

Settles Suit
Morgan Freeman
Morgan Freeman has settled a lawsuit related to a 2008 car accident that seriously injured him and a passenger, according to court records posted Thursday. Terms of the settlement were not released.
Demaris Meyer filed a federal lawsuit against the Academy Award-winning actor in February, claiming Freeman had been drinking the night of the accident last summer and was negligent when the car ran off the side of a rural highway near his Mississippi Delta home.
The 1997 Nissan Maxima belonged to Meyer but she said Freeman was driving when the car flipped several times and landed upright in a ditch about 75 miles south of Memphis, Tenn. No charges were filed.
Details of the settlement were not disclosed in court records. U.S. District Judge Michael P. Mills closed the case in a ruling Thursday.
